Sunny Sunday
After a late, lazy start to the day, we went for a walk on the mountain and collected a sack full of pine cones for the fire. For the rest of the day we all just gone on with our own things - Sarah is working on a history project, Danie tinkered with his model airplane, Emma went ice-skating with a group of her friends and I sort-of tidied up my box of ribbons and gift tags!

Netherlands V Cameroon!!
Yesterday we went to the Netherlands V Cameroon match at Cape Town Stadium - it was one of the most awesome experiences of our lives! Not being a big soccer loving family, although we have been enjoying watching matches on TV and getting into the vibe of the World Cup, we didn't expect to be affected by it as much as we were. We approached the whole event as if we were tourists and caught the bus into town whereupon we were swept up in a sea of orange with the Netherlands supporters. The fan walk was incredible and we have decided we will do it again for the next Cape Town match even though we don't tickets for the match.

Tea party
We had a wonderful birthday tea party for Sarah - delicious eats, great conversation and a lot of laughs - it was also the most beautiful day. I brought out my grandmothers china and sliver ware and the tea party went on till well after dinner time.
My scones turned out really well too - thanks for the great recipe mum!

Longing for Scotland
I have days when I get a longing for Scotland and today is one of those days. It probably has something to do with the fact that a year ago today Emma, Sarah and I were sitting at Heathrow waiting for our connecting flight to Edinburgh. When we landed it was a similar day to what it is here today – sunny, bright and green with a nip in the air but oh so beautiful.

Fit for a queen......
Just had an impromptu lunch 'meeting' with a bunch of girls from the office at Royale Eatery - they make the best burgers in town!
Delicious, but now I feel like I need to lie down......

29 Gifts in 29 Days
Image from We Heart It
I have read quite a bit about the 29 Gifts in 29 Days movement and I have become more and more inspired to do it myself. Living in a country like South Africa, the opportunities to give are everywhere, you don’t even have to leave your home to do so! Of course, I understand that this isn’t just about random monetary donations, this is about consciously gifting and it needn’t be a material donation either – it can be giving of your time too.
I am going to do this slightly differently as I am going to involve Emma and Sarah too – its too much for them to embark on this on their own, but the three of us can do this together. I am hoping that the gifting opportunities will present themselves rather than us having to look for them, and its working out that way already – without mentioning a thing to anyone, my sister asked me for my first gift this morning – so easy!
Simply Pizza
Image from Simply Breakfast
I love the Simply Breakfast blog. Jen seems to have the most awesome breakfast repertoire and her photographs are beautiful! There is something really good about leftover pizza for breakfast. Sarah especially is a huge fan of leftovers for breakfast and will often make sure she is up before the rest of us to make sure she gets a slice for her breakfast!

Old Biscuit Mill market
I woke up with a craving for some deliciously different, wholesome food and there is no place better than the Old Biscuit Mill market. There's always a great vibe, you're guaranteed to bump into people you know and whatever you can possibly think up to eat, you'll find it or someone will make it for you!

Its time for Africa!
Today the 2010 World Cupp kicks off and you cannot believe the vibe in this beautiful city of ours! In our wildest dreams we couldn't predict the incredible feeling this event has created and I can honestly say that I am proudly South African!

I ♡ Dottie Angel!
I came across this gorgeous blog, dottie angel. Its is so colourful and Tif is SO talented - I am envious beyond words. Apart from her amazing talents, she seems to live a pretty idyllic life too. I am crazy about chickens so these pics have particular appeal - I remember when our two hens would hop up on the table to see what grub was up for grabs! Dottie Angel also sells on Etsy.......lovely, lovely, lovely.....
Oh, to have a linen cupboard that looks like this!

World Cup Fever!
In just 3 days the World Cup kicks off in SA and the country has been gripped by WC Fever! I thought it was time we caught the bug too so I have strung some flags up outside our house. Fortunately our neighbours are accustomed to our slightly eccentric ways.....

I love my mum
My mum is a very special person and I love her so much - I hope I tell her that often enough, I think I do. Apart from being a super-fantastic mother, she is a brilliant granny too! I cannot imagine life without her. How cute is she in this picture taken when she was in her early twenties?
Love you mum, you're the best!

Its a cold, grey Sunday but we picked up a takeaway and ate it next to the ocean before going for a walk - the dogs were especially happy!
