Stellenbosch

Sarah had dancing in Stellenbosch this morning so I took the opportunity to have a stroll through the village.  Its quite an historical little town with beautiful Cape Dutch and Victorian architecture and a student vibe with a great cafe culture.

Longing for Scotland

I have days when I get a longing for Scotland and today is one of those days.  It probably has something to do with the fact that a year ago today Emma, Sarah and I were sitting at Heathrow waiting for our connecting flight to Edinburgh. When we landed it was a similar day to what it is here today – sunny, bright and green with a nip in the air but oh so beautiful.

A few of my favourite things...

A few of my favourite things......

Old houses and buildings.
Well used paint brushes, tubes of paint, pencils, pastels – any stationery really.
Garden picked flowers and herbs.
Lavender – freshly picked, dried, in bath salts and oils – you name it!
Junk shops and boot sale finds – especially pieces that have a story to tell.
Beautifully wrapped gifts – almost more than what’s inside!
Chickens – love their fluffy bottoms!
Bicycle baskets – they are both practical and nostalgic.
