ahhhh, Friday

I visit Daniella’s blog Dress, Design and Décor regularly, its one of my favourites, she finds and posts the most amazing things!  I have been obsessing about anything nautical or red and blue and striped ever since Sarah came home with her “build a lighthouse” project for school.  A couple of days ago Daniella posted an entry about CHANCE – the most beautiful website dedicated to simple classics and stripes!  Everything about this site is gorgeous.......  Daniella also posted some other amazing nautical inspired pics, definitely worth a look!

Fine ART by Malcolm Bowling

A couple of weeks ago I posted an entry about the beautiful design studio and shop my friends Natalie Munro and Malcolm Bowling opened in Hermanus - The Design Nook.  Malcolm, a fine art graduate with a passion for all living creatures incorporates his love of wildlife with his love of art - the result being the most exceptional drawings such as the one below.  Malcolm has just started selling on Etsy and will soon have his website up and running.

Lomography

Lomograpghy seems to be all the rage amongst photographers these days, and I have come across some really amazing lomo photo's on the web.  I don't have a lomo camera but I found a very handy free PS action on Addicted to Design that I downloaded.  I think I prefer the pictures without a vignette but I guess it depends on the photo.  Fun!

Absolute Monday......

Another glorious weekend passed and back to the grindstone. Enjoying a Vida latte to get me going for the week!

Stellenbosch

Sarah had dancing in Stellenbosch this morning so I took the opportunity to have a stroll through the village.  Its quite an historical little town with beautiful Cape Dutch and Victorian architecture and a student vibe with a great cafe culture.

These pictures from A Continuous Lean, taken at the worlds largest outdoor antiques market in Brimfield Massachusetts, have me practically drooling!  I would give me eyeteeth to go to this......it is definitely going onto my wish list....

Feeling nautical

Sarah has to make a lighthouse as part of a school project so I have been searching for some design inspiration for her.  Between the lighthouses and Emma's latest stripe obsession, I am feeling quite nautical......

Farm Fab

I love, love, love this picture from VISI magazine.  Like a lot of people I have the fantasy of moving out of the city and living on a farm and pictures like this one just reinforce that fantasy.

The Sartorialist

Its a cold, grey and wet day and I got to the office very early this morning.  I didn't feel like getting straight into work so I decided to spend some time browsing through the pages of The Sartorialist..... swoon.  Oh to have some of these women's style and wardrobes!  I particularly love these looks...

Weekend away - Swellendam

We're just back from a cold and wet but thoroughly amazing weekend away with friends to Frog Mountain in Swellendam.  The cold and wet gave us an excuse to eat and drink plenty, play games, make huge fires and just have a lot of fun with 'Team Riley".
Now we are back home sitting in front of another fire watching the closing ceremony of the FIFA World Cup and the final between Spain and Netherlands.  There is a roast in the oven (even though we really don't need anymore food!) and I haven't decided yet who I want to win.....hmmmmm..?  Feeling very proudly South African right now - wonder how we are all going to feel tomorrow when it is all over :-(
